In observance of National Identity Theft Prevention and Awareness Month, Centier Bank has published a free webinar about identity theft, now available for public view on its Facebook Page.
Learn How to Protect Yourself from Identity Theft provides viewers the opportunity to learn about identity theft as part of Centier Bank’s Online Financial Education Series, Centier To You. During the webinar, attendees can learn about how identity theft happens, as scams are becoming more intricate and common—targeting people online, through cell phones, social media channels, and elsewhere.
Additionally, the webinar provides information on what to do if consumers think they may have fallen victim to a scam, or if their personal information was exposed or compromised in any way.
Centier To You launched earlier this year, offering free e-courses on identity theft along with other materials, such as Centier’s Top 5 Tips on how to protect your identity. Centier To You offers information and resources on many other topics, offered for free to the public through the bank’s website. These resources are intended to help consumers avoid identity theft and scams by staying in the know on tactics scammers use to target victims.
Lauren Zurbriggen, Financial Education Coordinator at Centier Bank, said Centier To You was created in response to communities’ needs, and she is excited to be able to include people from near and far to educate themselves on such a vital topic.
“Now more than ever, it is important to help consumers stay informed and educated on money management,” Zurbriggen explained. “This event is going to be interactive, much like our live, in-person events used to be before the COVID-19 pandemic.
