Liberty Estates and McColly Real Estate host Broker Open House to celebrate progress and support nonprofit organizations

On Wednesday, April 10, Liberty Estates and McColly Real Estate organized a broker open house.

Attendees were able to tour the models and learn about special financing options. Randy Hall, President of Luxor Homes, shares the recent progress of the Liberty Estates development and how the open house allows them to share these plans with the community.

“We're kicking off Liberty Estates in the spring after a long winter,” Hall said. “We have several finished models and a few partially finished models for people to come and see what we're about. We are a semi-custom home builder that offers a lot of amenities at a value. Liberty Estates is now a 400-acre regional project that offers a wide range of residential housing including rent to own opportunities.”

Ross Brown, Principal and Managing Broker at Advent Real Estate, shares what someone seeking land in this area can expect from the pricing.

“We have 400 apartment units approved with Liberty Estate,” Brown said. “That land is for sale with a price at $17,500 per unit and $7 million in total.”

Brown hinted that there are plans to incorporate industrial lots and more expansion in the future.

“Weather permitting, it’s possible that we’ll be ready by late 2025,” Brown said. “The apartments are shovel ready. I think it’ll have a big impact on the economy once it’s all completed.”

The progression of the building process is not only positive discussion for real estate agents from this open house but also four nonprofit organizations who will receive donations from a portion of every home sale. This includes the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Northwest Indiana, Opportunity Enterprises, St. Jude House, and Center For Possibilities.

Aimee Gabbert, Philanthropy Assistant for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Northwest Indiana, is grateful for how this will help the organization.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for us,” Gabbert said. “Getting the chance to give back to the kids of the Boys & Girls Club, I think it will make their lives better as a result.”

Gabbert is optimistic that these houses will break waves immediately for people in the Merrillville community.

“I think it’ll be great to have the foot traffic come through Merrillville,” Gabbert said. “It’s going to bring a lot to the economy and hopefully we’ll be able to sell these houses very quickly.”

Jane Kobak, Donor Relations Manager at Opportunity Enterprises, has been pleased with watching things unfold since the groundbreaking in 2022.

“We are thrilled to be a part of this amazing philanthropic effort with Luxor Homes and McColly Real Estate,” Kobak said. “We participated in a groundbreaking two years ago and we’ve been able to appreciate seeing everything getting built.”

Kobak is excited about how this opportunity will help spread awareness about Opportunity Enterprises.

“There’s going to be a lot of brokers and real estate agents walking through,” Kobak said. “It’s great because they’re going to learn more information about us. It’s a great benefit to get our message out there and allow the real estate agents to share it with their respective buyers.”

Nicole Bernard, Community Advisor for St. Jude House, shared the same sentiment on building relationships with everyone in attendance.

“Creating connections with new faces is the biggest thing for us,” Bernard said. “I think the popularity of the event will continue through to the weekend.”

St. Jude House assists adults and children impacted by domestic abuse. Bernard describes how this event can show people they can be of support in those situations.

“People that might not understand what we do have the chance to come in and learn more about our program and our crisis line,” Bernard said. “This is such a very special opportunity for us.”

Cherish Edwards, Executive Director of Center For Possibilities, considers themselves to be the best kept secret in Northwest Indiana. With the traffic of this open house, she is thankful for the donations and believes that could change in the near future.

“As a nonprofit organization, we rely so much on the funding from other sources,” Edwards said. “Grants, individual donors, and events like this are what allow us to serve adults and preschoolers with special needs in the Region.”

Edwards also gave praise to the builders who have helped shape Liberty Estates to be a one of a kind neighborhood.

“I applaud them for their desire to organize the community in this way,” Edwards said. “I think it’s really unique and shows their motives to help improve this area.”

Overall, the open house was a major success with an impressive turnout. Hall is looking forward to how each of these organizations will continue to take steps forward following these donations.

“The goal is for us to add exposure for these charities to make people more aware of the great things they do in our community while also raising money for them,” Hall said.

“Long-term relationships with our clients and other organizations are what keep us going so we’re honored to include them in all our actions.”

Hall noted that he will be matching any funds that are donated over the grand opening weekend for these charities as well.
