Peer to Peer Workshop to Maintain Wellness and Recovery

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI Porter County)) announces Peer to Peer Workshop for Consumers with Mental Health Disorders.
National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI Porter County) is currently offering a workshop for those with serious mental illnesses who are interested in establishing and maintaining their wellness and recovery. The program is at no cost to the participant.
Peer-to-Peer consists of ten, two-hour units and is taught by a team of three trained "mentors" who are personally experienced at living well with mental illness.
Participants come away from the course with: an advance directive; a "relapse prevention plan" to help identify tell-tale feelings, thoughts, behavior or events that may warn of impending relapse and to organize for intervention; mindfulness exercises to help focus and calm thinking; and survival skills for working with providers and the general public.
Class size is limited. Class will begin on Oct. 4 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm at the Portage Fires Station, 3401 Swanson Rd. To register or for more information, call (219) 764-2958.
