Portage Varsity Baseball Defeats Valpo, JV Falls

BASEBALL:
The Varsity Baseball team improved to 9-3 on the year by beating Gavit 9-2 in its’ annual baseball strikes out Cancer game on Friday.  Dave Jercha pitched a complete game striking out 11.  The offense was lead by Gabe Acevedo who had 3 hits and 5 RBI's on the day.  Tommy Mosley added 3 hits of his own, Tony Cheky also had 2 hits for the Indians.  Come support the baseball team as it plays rival Valparaiso at the Gary Steelyard today at 4:30 to finish the game that was suspended due to rain on Saturday.  The Varsity record is now 9-3 (2-2 DAC).

JV BASEBALL:
The JV Baseball team lost to Valparaiso 3-1 on Friday.  Travis Marsh pitched 6 strong innings with 6 strikeouts.  Andrew Brown, Travis Marsh, Zach Thorn all had 2 hits for Portage.

On Saturday the JV Baseball team defeated Elkhart Memorial in game one 14-13 but lost game two 12-9 making their record 9-6 (3-1 DAC).  Great come back in both games.  Zach Thor had game winning hit in game one of the double header.
