1st Source Bank Ernestine M. Raclin Community Leadership Award Winner Spotlight: Lori Moulton

Lori Moulton, Banking Center Manager and Assistant Vice President at 1st Source Bank, has always considered it a priority to be of service to those around her.

"I feel like it's important to get out there and be part of your community,” Moulton said. “I felt that my service was just something that I needed to do.”

So, when she was offered her current position at 1st Source Bank’s downtown Valparaiso branch, she leapt at the opportunity to join a team with a well-respected reputation for local service.

"1st Source is so community-minded,” she said. “We give so much money and time back to our communities."

Over the past nine years, Moulton has come to embody much of 1st Source Bank’s dedication to the Region. At the encouragement of her colleagues, she has served on the board of Opportunity Enterprises and joined the Valparaiso Noon Kiwanis Club where she was recently elected vice-president.

For her compassionate leadership, Moulton was one of ten employees and community members honored with 1st Source Bank’s Ernestine M. Raclin Community Leadership Award over the summer.

"I was pretty humbled that they would recognize me in that way and recognize what I've been doing," she said.

And she has been doing quite a lot. As an Opportunity Enterprises (OE) board member, she donates volunteer hours to everything from organizational planning to packing and shipping holiday orders at OE’s Simply Amazing Market.

“Opportunity Enterprises has always been an organization that was near and dear to my heart," Moulton said, explaining that her son has been a client for many years.

Most recently, she worked alongside 700 other Packathon volunteers from OE to pack all the gift bags given out to participants at the 2019 Bank of America Chicago Marathon.

"It's a great community activity," she said. "That's always a fun event."

As a member of the Valparaiso Noon Kiwanis Club, she has helped organize their very popular annual corn roast— the only such roast currently hosted in Porter County.

"That was a big event for us. We raised a lot of money to be able to give back to our community,” Moulton said. “It's fun, it's big, and it really got a lot of participation from our community. We had over 2,000 people that attended last year."

Valpo Kiwanis is also coming up on the 100th anniversary of its founding, and Moulton is really looking forward to planning their signature community-benefit project and other related activities, as part of her tenure in the club’s leadership.

It meant a lot to Moulton that 1st Source Bank’s founding family took the time to celebrate the individual efforts of employees and the communities they serve.

"I think this award is a great way to recognize not only employees of 1st Source, but customers, clients, and community members every year," she said. "I appreciate the fact that they give us the time to get out there and be a part of our community, because that's really important to me."
