Comfort Dogs Visit Central Elementary

Central Elementary School in Portage is fortunate to have a partnership of encouragement, compassion, and positive community involvement with Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Pastor Engle, Mrs. Engle, and the entire church family support our students and staff throughout each school year. The students enjoy the weekly visits from Barney, the comfort dog, during Tuesday’s Homework Help! Recently, Pastor Engle has been visiting our Central gymnasium on Thursday afternoons with the comfort dogs, Prince, Barney, and Isaiah, for students to spend quality time with our canine community partners during the school day.

On Thursday, April 30, 2015, Pastor Engle and the comfort dogs delivered Care Packages for Central students in need of comfort during difficult times. The packages are filled with a handmade blanket, a stuffed comfort dog, and so much love! Central Elementary appreciates Pastor Engle and the entire Holy Cross Lutheran Parish for their continued involvement with the Central Elementary family.
