Portage Independence Day Parade and Festival

Event Information

3:44pm - 3:44pm

The Portage Department of Parks & Recreation is hosting their Independence Day Parade and Festival on July 4, 2019. This year’s theme is “Superheroes!”

Lineup opens at 9:00 a.m. and the parade starts at 11:00 a.m. This year, the parade will assemble in the parking lot of Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church. No one will be permitted in the lot prior to that time, and no vehicles other than parade floats will be permitted within the assembly area. The parade route will start at Nativity Church and head North down Willowcreek Road to Central Avenue, and then will head East down Central to end just past the Portage Mall at Roy Buckley Way.

If your group will be performing for the judges, the performance must be limited to two minutes or less in order to provide adequate timing for all participants. Any candy must be handed, not thrown, and the use of water guns, balloons, hoses, etc., is strictly prohibited along the parade route.

Parade vehicles should arrive between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. No vehicles will be allowed in the lot prior to that time. Vehicles will enter Nativity parking lot from the furthest north entrance on Willowcreek Road. A lineup number will be provided to you. Please affix it to the lower right-hand corner of your windshield so you are announced and judged properly.

Drop Offs: Parents, please drop your children off no earlier than 10:15 a.m. The drop-off area is on Sunrise Avenue at the opening in the fence. There are absolutely no drop-offs on Willowcreek Rd-- per Portage Police Department.

Live music will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and the Fireworks at Dusk Food Vendors will be present.
