Festival of the Lakes Hosts Polka Party

The 20th Annual Festival of the Lakes invites all Polka enthusiasts to attend the popular Polka Party on Sunday, July 21st. Musical guests, Keith Stras and Polka Confetti, will bring a traditional Polish sound to accompany an afternoon of great food and dancing. Keith Stras and Polka Confetti is a 6-person group fronted by Keith Stras, a Grammy and Emmy winning polka artist.

Keith Stras has worked in every aspect of Polka Music, he is in his 48th year in the genre. Elected to the Polka Music Hall of Fame in 1999, he was heard over the air in Chicagoland over WPNA 1490 AM. He is now heard nationwide on Sirius XM Satellite and the Polka Jammer Network. On television he blended Polka and comedy, local celebrities, and game show stunts. In 2002, he was awarded a Grammy for his performance in the Jimmy Sturr Orchestra. In 2009 he sought out the finest Polka Musicians to form Polka Confetti. The group has toured across the country, recorded both a DVD and two CD’s.

The festive celebration of Polish heritage is from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hammond Marina, 701 Casino Center Drive. Admission and parking are free, and guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets. Authentic Polish food is available for purchase by Cavalier Inn of Hammond and refreshments will be available for purchase by the Hammond Marina.
