Anna Nalick, a California native, has been writing songs for 25 years. Wreck of the Day, her  2005 debut album, proved a refreshing blend of sophisticated wordplay, haunting melodies, sublime textures and atmosphere, and provocative reflection. The album featured her first radio hit, "Breath (2 AM)," which reached No. 4 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Chart and No. 45 on the Hot 100 chart, and was twice used on ABC-TV's hit show, "Grey's Anatomy." "Inspiration comes from a variety of sources," Nalick says of her songs. "They're not necessarily about my personal experiences, but sometimes just observations of situations or relationships of different people I've known. They get funneled through my own inner psychology. Whatever the source of the interpretation, the feelings I get are personal. I find a need to write these feelings down in words and the melody follows."  Nalick's latest album, The Blackest Crow, is due to be released in December.
