Young Authors Conference Will Be Held at Aylesworth

aylesowrth-authors-conference-2014Traditionally Aylesworth Elementary has held a Young Authors Conference each year.

Every student from grades first through fifth writes a book. Kindergarten students write a class book guided by their teacher. They go through the writing process of planning, writing a rough draft, editing, and finally publishing and illustrating in a Bare Book guided by their teacher. The Aylesworth PTO graciously provides every student with the hardbound bare book. So it becomes something that they can keep and treasure for years to come.

Students also get to see and hear firsthand from a published author/ illustrator each year. This year Rick Chrustowski will be visiting our school. His love of animals is reflected in his books. He has published eight books, five of which he has written and illustrated: Bright Beetle, Big Brown Bat, Turtle Crossing, Blue Sky Bluebird, and Hop Frog are located in our library and have been used by teachers at our school. Rick will present the entire life cycle of how a book begins from the original idea to the published copy.
