Foundation hosts Give Local Porter County, an online giving celebration

give-local-porter-countyMay 6, 2014 will be a special day in Porter County. It’s Give Local Porter County Day and on this one day only (from 12:01 am to 11:59 pm), your gift to Porter County nonprofit organizations can go further to help over 50 local nonprofit organizations. The Porter County Community Foundation is joining communities from northwest Indiana and across the country for a national day of local giving and leading the local effort to support important causes and meet needs right here in Porter County.

Give Local America celebrates the 100-year anniversary of the world’s first community foundation. Back in 1914, a group of bold Midwesterners created the first community foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. Today more than 1,700 foundations worldwide advance the work of nonprofit organizations around the globe. The Porter County Community Foundation was established in 1996. In just 17 years, the Foundation has been able to disburse more than $16 million in grants, and empower local nonprofit organizations to reach their potential.
