Although many of you may already be aware, I want to make sure all PTEF members know that Portage Township Schools: 
1. Was recognized by the state for achieving both AYP and "Exemplary" PL 221 status for school year 09-10. ELA and Math state test success increased at all grade levels in every school.
2. Myers Elementary School has been named a Blue Ribbon School and will be recognized in Washington, DC next month.
3. Central Elementary is one of three finalists as a candidate for Exemplary Title I School in the state.
4. A team of K-12 faculty members (led by Principal Mary Tracy) are being inducted into the NW Indiana Society of Innovators for their leadership and training in the differentiated instruction model, and for sharing this model with other educators in the area.
I urge you to express your congratulations to the students, parents, staff and administration of the Portage Township Schools for their continued efforts and successes. I hope, in some small part, the Foundation has contributed in this endeavor to take Portage "to the top!"
