Yates, Watkins Selected for Honors Study Abroad Program

phs-logo-2015The Indiana University Honors Program in Foreign Languages has selected 2 PHS students for their summer study abroad program, and plans to interview 2 more. After a lengthy application process and a language proficiency test, Kaitlyn Yates, grade 12, and Kai Watkins, grade 11, have been selected to study in Spain this summer for 7 weeks. Still another 2 students, Todd Stivers and Angelica Lopez, both grade 11, will submit to an interview with the IUHPFL selection committee on February 11.

This program is open to all Indiana students studying modern languages, including French, Chinese, German, and Spanish. While studying abroad, students will be living with host families, taking intensive Spanish classes, and will only speak Spanish for the duration of the trip. Kaitlyn Yates and Angelica Lopez were also awarded scholarships by the Don Quijote Foundation to assist in offsetting some of the costs involved in participating in the IUHPFL.

The staff and administration, not to mention the students' families and friends, are extremely proud of what they have accomplished so far, and are looking forward to seeing what changes occur in the lives of these outstanding students.
