The Ailes brothers are becoming known around Northwest Indiana for their books. Long time South Haven resident Mark Cusco Ailes graduated from Portage High School in 1984. His first novel, The Tree of No Boundaries, came out in 2009. In 2012, he has had three novels come out and one will come out this October with one of his brothers, and another one will come out in December.
A few months ago he had an autograph signing at the Valparaiso Barnes & Noble. As of date, he says he will be doing another signing there in December.
Mark's brother Derek just finished his work on a horror short story collection called Journey Into the Unknown. It features twelve short stories written by the two brothers. Derek is also a graduate of Portage High School. He currently also resides in South Haven and is currently working on his new book which is coming out early 2014.
The third brother, Dale, had his debut novel just released released Asleep With One Eye Open which involves the subject of child abuse. He also graduated from Portage High School and currently resides in Portage with his wife and daughter.
