The 6th grade classes at Willowcreek participated in the ALS bucket challenge by participating in a "Penny War". Students and staff were encouraged to donate loose change which would be donated to the ALS bucket challenge. On Friday, the students gathered in the football stadium where each one was given a 32 oz. cup to dump on their heads followed by the grand finale of the WMS principals also having a large bucket of water/ice dumped on their heads!
During the week students learned about ALS. How to recognize someone with ALS, signs, symptoms how it effects people etc... the Math classes are charting the money that is being collected. Science classes are measuring liquids and discussing water and ice matter along with physics. A total of $808.04, was collected during the week, surpassing by far, the goal of $500.00!
And last but not least, the 6th graders have challenged Fegely Middle School to participate in the fight against ALS! Great job to students and staff on this awesome project!
