White Sox Make Two Roster Moves

Prior to tonight’s game at Detroit, the Chicago White Sox recalled right-handed pitcher Carlos Torres and infielder Dayan Viciedo from Class AAA Charlotte. whitesoxlogo

Torres, 27, went 9-9 with a 3.42 ERA (61 ER/160.1 IP), 140 strikeouts and a .217 (125-575) opponents average in 27 games (25 starts) with Charlotte this season. He ranked third in the International League in strikeouts and IP and sixth in ERA.

Torres also has gone 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA (7 ER/9.1 IP) in two games (one start) over two stints with the Sox in 2010 (August 3 and August 28-30). He will wear uniform No. 52.

Viciedo, 21, batted .274 (94-343) with 20 home runs and 47 RBI in 86 games with Charlotte this season. The 5-foot-11, 240-pounder tied for 10th in the IL in home runs.

Viciedo hit .268 (22-82) with three home runs and seven RBI in 27 games during his first stint with the White Sox this season from June 18-August 11.

With the moves, the White Sox active roster is at 32 players, and the 40-man roster remains at 40.
