Where Great Things Begin: Summer Programs at the YMCA

Don't Let Your Child's Summer Be A Bummer

Why do you love the Y?

Francis Family The Francis family has grown in size as well as mind, body, and spirit since they joined the YMCA 10 years ago. Caitlyn Francis has always been an advocate for healthy living. She joined the YMCA at age 16 in order to stay Fit. After a short time as a member, Caitlyn started working at the facility in order to help put herself through nursing school.

After 7 years of working at the YMCA in several positions, it was time to pursue her career in nursing. Since then, her family has grown with her marriage to Matthew. The 2 of them exercise at the & at least 4-5 times a week.

With 2 new additions to the family, 3 year old Sophia and 6 month old Matthew, their lives have become very busy. "I feel comfortable bringing my children to the Fun Zone. Sophia has made so many new friends in gymnastics and swimming lessons and soon preschool. I have met many other moms at the Y with the same interests and have become lifelong friends with them. The staff is friendly and go out of their way to meet the members needs. With so many choices in facilities, I wouldn't choose any other but the Y."

K-Care
Kindergarteners can benefit from the K-Care program which allows Kindergarteners to meet at the Y when their class is not in session. Transportation for Y-Care and K-Care are provided by Portage Township School Corporation.

Y-Care
Since 1986 the Y has partnered with the Portage Township School Corp to provide its Y-Care program to care for children before and after school. The program meets at Aylesworth and Jones Elementary Schools and provides Portage Kindergarten through middle school students a safe, fun, and curriculum based program to meet their needs. It is open before school at 6:30 am and after school until 6:00 pm. All staff are CPR/first aid certified. Contact Ms. CC at ms.cc@ymcaofportage.org for more information. CCDF Vouchers accepted.
