WDSO Radiothon to Feature Giveaways, Requested Songs

WDSO-RadiothonChesterton High School’s radio station, WDSO-FM 88.3 will host its 23rd annual Radiothon on April 22-25 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and will conclude with a remote broadcast from George’s Gyros Spot in Chesterton on Friday, April 26 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

During the Radiothon the following seniors will be on-air to collect pledges, play requested songs and conduct giveaways: Monday-Jackie Santos; Tuesday-Kelley Jankowicz and Jake Williams; Wednesday-Billy Atherton and Collin Sulcer; Thursday-Patrick Menn and Nate York and Friday-everyone will take turns on-air. Please tune in and make a pledge or request a song at any time or when your favorite DJ’s are on-the-air.

Music requests will be taken each day between 6 a.m.-8 p.m.; however, some regular programming will be broadcast at their scheduled times. You can make a request by calling 983-3777 or going to WDSO’s website.

There will be giveaways featuring gift cards and certificates from local businesses during the Radiothon. A reminder that if you are listening to WDSO on the internet, the station comes in slower than if you are listening on the radio and could affect when you call in during the giveaways.

On Wednesday, April 24, WDSO will also be participating in High School Radio Day. This special day is to help bring awareness of local high school stations throughout the whole United States. WDSO will be broadcasting from the CHS cafeteria during all lunches. Recently, several members of the WDSO staff traveled to the Indiana Statehouse to see a House Concurrent Resolution passed on the House floor and be recognized as one of the stations participating in this event from Indiana.

Radiothon is the time when listeners can make a contribution to support the station. All members of WDSO will be taking pledges or donations prior to the fundraiser and during the week of the Radiothon. You can make a pledge by calling the station at 983-3777 or by using a special e-mail address that will be available during the week so that you can make a pledge on-line by going to WDSO’s website at wdso.org.
