Vision Workshop – Highway 20 Corridor

city of portageThe City of Portage is beginning the process of creating a Highway 20 Corridor Plan between the Interstate 94 viaduct and the Salt Creek Bridge. The plan will focus on land use, development, corridor character, streetscape elements, infrastructure, access, mobility, signage, economic strategies, and other issues and opportunities facing the Corridor. The intent of the plan is to produce responsive, creative, and effective recommendations and actions designed to improve the Highway 20 Corridor.

However, the plan cannot be completed without the participation of elected and appointed officials, residents, business owners and managers, property owners, and other stakeholders from throughout our community. Your input and ideas are important, and the City needs to hear what you have to say.

The workshop will provide community members with an opportunity to work together for the future of Highway 20. Attendees will participate in an interactive workshop to map out their concerns, the things they like best about the corridor, and the changes they would like to see.

After this meeting takes place, the consulting team will take community members' input and craft an overall "framework plan" for the corridor that will serve as the foundation for the development of more detailed "core" planning components. The workshop is a vital aspect of the planning process as input at this meeting will play a prominent role in drafting the plan.

The vision workshop is scheduled for Monday, April 8, 2013, at 7 pm at Woodland Park-Sycamore Room. All community members are encouraged to attend.
