VCC Serving the Portage Community

In August 2011 our church underwent a transition period. Now in 2012 VCC has a vision, birthed from several Mario Murillo revivals, to see revival not only hit Portage but the region. We believe it is greater to serve, and so under the leadership of our new Men’s Ministry director, Tom McKee, we wanted to go out and clean up some of the trash in the city. This is only the beginnings of several various service projects VCC is going to be doing in the upcoming months.

It isn’t only the Men’s Ministry serving but we have an entire division of our church named, “Servolution” from Dino Rizzo’s church in Louisiana. We are planning a big event May 5th. Single moms will be able to get a free oil change, a pedicure/manicure, and their hair done. Also everyone will get their car washed for a canned good donation to Portage Food Pantry. We have also been asked by the Portage Food Pantry to raise baby donations (food, formula, etc.)

VCC wants to play a part in our community. We want to serve others. It doesn’t matter if we clean up trash in the street, serve single moms, or raise donations for the Portage Food Pantry. The Bible says, “40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’” (Matt. 25:40)

We also want to thank the Portage Street Dept. for supplying all the tools we needed that day. We had over 20 volunteers that cleaned up 3 locations: Crisman Rd. by the viaduct, Central Ave by the cemetery and Dairy Dip, and US Hwy. 6 and CO. Line Rd. We cleaned up over 30 big bags of trash. Everyone involved was blessed that day.

We plan to do more in the future.
