YOUTH DODGEBALL
Come out for our after-school dodgeball program! There will be an instructor on hand to explain the rules of the game and help officiate matches. Foam balls are used.

  • Date: Mondays, 4:15pm – 5:15pm.
    • Session I September 26 – October 31
    • Session II November 7 – December 12 Ages: 7 – 14 yrs

NFL Punt, Pass & Kick competition
Compete against your friends to see who has the best football skills! Boys & girls compete separately for a chance to advance all the way to the national finals.

  • Where: Trumble Field at WMS
  • Ages: 6 to 15
  • Cost: FREE Pre-register at Woodland Park or at 4:45pm on site, day of event.

Kiddie Hoopers Youth Basketball
A fun program that gives kids an opportunity to work on their motor skills in a team setting. Shirt and trophy included in registration fee. VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED!

  • When: October 19 – December 7. 30 minute practice followed by 30 minute games on Wednesday nights between 5pm and 7pm. (except 11/23)

Taekwondo
Learn from a certified instructor with over 13 years of teaching experience. Students will build confidence, self-esteem and life skills.

Adult Ultimate Frisbee Tournament
Teams play 7 v. 7 with a max of 12 players on the roster. Winning team receives championship hoodies. This tournament is CO-ED!!!

Adult Dodgeball League
Teams play 6 v. 6 with a maximum of 10 players on the roster. Prizes may include champion t-shirts or entry into future sports leagues. This league is CO-ED!!!

  • Season: 18 match schedule followed by double elimination tournament

Women’s Volleyball League
B-Division plays on Tuesday nights and A-Division plays on Thursday nights. Teams play two 3-game matches per night and will be assigned matches to score. Season consists of 18-match schedule, followed by tourney.

Young Champions
Cheerleading returns in October! A fun course designed for making friends while learning choreographed pom-pom and dance routines. No experience needed! www.youngchampions.us

  • Times: First night: Ages 4-9 at 6pm, ages 10+ at 7pm. Coach will then assign class times

Flag Football Turkey Bowl
Format is 8 v. 8, 100 yard field, kickoffs, punts, field goals and USFTL rules. Maximum 8 teams.

Fall Flag Football League
Outdoor fall league featuring 8 games plus playoffs. Format is 8 v. 8, 100 yard field, kickoffs, punts, field goals and USFTL rules. Upper and lower divisions. 8 weeks of regular season plus 2 weeks of playoffs.

  • Date: Season begins September 25
  • Games will take place on Sundays between 9am – 4pm
  • Registration: Deposit of $100 due September 22. Balance due September 30
  • Where: Imagination Glen
  • Ages: 17+ (under 18 requires parent’s signed release)
  • Cost: Lowered to $450! Additional $25 fee if team is not USFTL sanctioned

Yoga Classes
Classes are for beginners and intermediates. Please bring a towel or mat and dress comfortably.

All Saturday classes will meet at the Portage Lakefront in September & October, and at the Yacht Club November & December.

Belly Dance & More
Basic belly dance moves will be taught. This Middle Eastern inspired dance will help you discover and reveal your feminine selves.

Christmas Craft Show
Make this a must for your Christmas shopping needs. Over 75 crafters will surely have what you want! This year we have homemade crafters in the Oakwood Grand Hall and buy/sell vendors in the Sycamore Hall. The event is held at Woodland Park on Saturday, November 26th and Sunday, November 27th from 9am-3pm. Admission is free. Concessions will be available.

Craft Show Vendors Needed
A limited number of booth spaces are still available for the Christmas craft show. Spaces are 10’ x 10’ and a limited number have electric. The show is open to both homemade crafters and buy/sell vendors. All homemade crafters will be in the Oakwood Grand Hall and all others will be in the Sycamore Hall.

Booth fees are $45 without a table. To rent our tables add $5 for each table up to two maximum.

Contact the Park Department office for booth availability. The show is held on November 26th and 27th from 9:00am-3:00pm at Woodland Park.

Ballroom Dance Lessons
“Trip the light fantastic” in this exciting and energetic program. Your instructor, Mary Chandler, will teach you all the moves to make you “stand-out” on the dance floor. This will be great as a refresher course or get ready for your next wedding reception. Mary teaches one day workshops as well as six week sessions. A dance partner is not necessary. Lessons are Mondays in the Sycamore Hall at Woodland Park.

Harvest Festival
October 8th and 9th at Woodland Park

Join us for this exciting new event! The Harvest Festival consists of a JURIED FINE ARTS SHOW, WINE & CHEESE TASTING & LIVE ENTERTAINMENT. The juried art show will be in the Oakwood Grand Hall. The other activities will take place in the Sycamore Hall. The program runs from 10am-5pm on the 8th and from 12-5pm on the 9th. FREE ADMISSION

Trick-or-Treat Halloween Crafts for Kids
Wouldn’t it be cool to make your own trick-or-treat stuff? Crafts will include making your very own personalized trick-or-treat bags and a cool safety lantern.

Haunted Hayride
Do you dare take a trip through the park and risk seeing the ghouls and goblins roaming the woods? Ride one of our haywagons and be prepared for some Halloween fun and frights! October 27th, 28th & 29th at Woodland Park from 6:30-9:30pm. Cost is $2 per person and children under 2 ride free. Kids under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Fun for all ages.

DO YOU WANT TO EARN SOME CASH???
Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, softball/baseball teams, civic organizations and even family & friends are invited to create and man a scene for the annual Haunted Hayride. It is as easy as pie to do. Simply submit your idea, pick out a scene site and begin constructing your scene. There are openings for 12 scenes. Some locations have electric available and some do not. Some locations have covering and some do not. To secure a prime site, get your application in early. You will earn $150 for participating in the three night event. Prize money for the 1st place scene is an additional $150, 2nd place $100, and 3rd place $75.

The event will be held on October 27th, 28th & 29th at Woodland Park from 6:30-9:30pm. Call 762-1675 ext 303 if you have any questions or would like to participate.

Scrapbooking Extreme
Create memorable cards, books, fun calendars or anything else you wish, while enjoying the company of other scrap-bookers. Bring your ideas, energy and scrapbooking supplies and enjoy a full day of creativity and fun!

Action Science presents – Haunted Laboratory
Have lots of spooky science fun doing hands-on experiments with a real “Mad Scientist”! Help trick-or-treaters get away from the monsters on our magnet bridge! Did you ever see a pumpkin explode? Check out Batty, our real specimen bat! There’s no boo about cotton candy ghosts and much more. Make gooey slime, too!

Action Science presents – For the Love of LASERs!
Learn all about the amazing properties of LASERA! Explore the visible spectrum of light, how holograms are made, and why there’s no such thing as white light. Play a friendly game of LASER Reflection Tag. Get you own Action Science diffraction specs!

Action Science presents – Christmas Chemistry
While kids mix various ingredients, they’ll learn the science behind physical and chemical reactions! Make a structurally sound stable for the reindeer, create a crystal garden like Mother Nature does, and make soothing bath fizzers and much more. Kids even get to craft a Forever Snowball!

Doing the Dunes in Watercolor!
Instructor-Dick Church

Learn the basic techniques of watercolor painting in the first two sessions and complete a Dunescape painting in the last two. Class will meet on four consecutive Mondays, September 26th, October 3rd, 10th & 17th from 10:00am – 12:00 noon at beautiful Portage Lakefront & Riverwalk pavilion. All supplies, other than the watercolor paper, will be included in the class cost. You may purchase your own 10”x14” sheets of 140# cold pressed watercolor paper. You will be using two sheets total. Your instructor will have paper available for $1.50 each. If you have painted previously and own some decent brushes, please feel free to bring them.

Minimum 5 – Please pre-register at Woodland Park by Thursday, September 22nd. Fee: $50 per person

Ghost Hauntings Storytelling on Porter County
Your guide, Danielle Garrison, will discuss paranormal happenings at locations like The Porter County Museum, The Old Porter County Home, The Porter County Courthouse, The Wolf Mansion and many more! This will be great fun for the entire family.
