UnitedHealthcare’s Level Funded Program helps clients save big

In a world full of uncertainty, knowing that you have coverage and support can make all the difference.

For some small business owners, providing their employees with quality healthcare insurance is a difficult and expensive decision. Programs like UnitedHealthcare’s Level Funded Program can make it all much easier.

UnitedHealthcare’s Level Funded Program is meant to support business owners in three key areas. First and foremost, it provides big savings to both the employer and employees. Second, it’s flexible and adaptable to the needs of the client. Finally, it’s secure. Coverage and costs remain consistent.

“Level funding is a way to fund benefits for small businesses,” Mike Telesky, vice president of sales, said. “Our program is very predictable and very safe.”

This safety comes from the clearly calculated costs.

In certain circumstances, the price of insurance for a group can rise or fall depending on the claims submitted. UnitedHealthcare’s Level Funded Program takes that issue off the table by providing knowable and dependable costs.

“Clients pay one premium every month to us, and they have no risk,” Telesky said. “They know that's the most they will pay for the whole year.”

Not only does the Level Funded Program support consistency, it also includes an opportunity for businesses and employees to earn money back.

“Customers can actually get a surplus back,” Telesky said. “At the end of the year, we will take a look at how they ran on their claims, the administration, and the loss. If they ran better, they can actually get a surplus back.”

The surplus earned in this period goes back to the business for the continued support of its employees.

“One of the nice things about Level Funded is the surplus opportunities,” Telesky said. “With a surplus, clients get to share in the gains and invest in their employees’ health and well-being.”

An added benefit to the Level Funded Programs exists for Chamber of Commerce members.

“If you are a member of one of the three chambers in Northwest Indiana – Michigan City, Valparaiso, and Crossroads – you get another 5% off your quote,” Telesky said.

This discount applies to current members as well as prospective ones. As long as a company’s chamber membership is complete by the time its policy becomes effective, the discount applies to them as well.

Encouraging all forms of health, UnitedHealthcare has programs that allow individuals to earn rewards for a healthy lifestyle.

“We pay both the employee and the spouse just for walking,” Telesky said. “This bonus is included in every Level Funded plan. By registering a fitness device, like an Apple Watch or Fitbit, members can earn up to $1,100.”

Amounting to earning $3 per day, participants earn every time they reach 10,000 steps in 24 hours.
