This summer, more than 175 children in Porter County are getting a leg up on learning in preparation for kindergarten. The Porter County School Readiness - Full STEAM Ahead program provides a fun learning experience that helps prepare children for kindergarten and beyond.
Since 2014, United Way of Porter County, Parents as Teachers, Portage Township Schools and Valparaiso Community Schools have filled a learning gap in Porter County by offering a high-quality, early learning experience that builds on the foundations of science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) to help children succeed in school. Designed for 4 to 5 year-olds, the program provides a positive first school experience to promote a life-long love of learning. This year, we are grateful for the generous support of ArcelorMittal, which has doubled the program's reach.
