United Way of Porter County Created New Women’s Group to Support Local Substance Abuse Recovery Program

United-Way-Porter-County New United Way of Porter County Women United group will provide life skills classes and social events for women in recovery through PACT Recovery Connection.

Classes are held for one hour every Monday night throughout the year. Class topics include financial literacy, cooking skills, women’s health and crafting activities.

“When you’re in recovery you have to leave everything you once knew behind,” said Kim Olesker, president & CEO of United Way of Porter County. “This new partnership will help facilitate social interactions and new skillsets to help these ladies grow and develop a new community.”

Dedication to service is at the heart of Women United Porter County. The group aims to provide a support network that will show women who are on their recovery journey that they are not alone.

“This is a one-of-a-kind service opportunity that will have a lasting impact right here at home,” said Megan Johnston Recovery Connection coordinator with PACT. “Everyone in our community will benefit from women in recovery getting the support that they need.”
