Ulanowski Sets New Personal Best to Lead Peregrine Women at Bethel Invite

PUC-PeregrinsFreshman Ashley Ulanowski topped her previous best time by 19 seconds to lead Purdue University Calumet women’s cross country team in Fridays’ Bethel College Invitational at St. Pat’s Park.

Ulanowski (Lowell, Ind./Lowell) ran a new personal best of 22:03 to place 105th in the 161-runner race. The mark has improved upon Ulanowski’s first collegiate 5K time by nearly three minutes.

Teammate Christine Lewandowski (Whiting, Ind./Bishop Noll) also set a new personal best with her time of 23:22 to place 134th.

Holly Opat (Lowell, Ind./Lowell) was the Peregrines’ second finisher with her 128th-place finish (23:08) and Jesenia Zendejas (Highland, Ind./Highland) was next in 131st with a time of 23:19.

Freshman Ashley Lugo (Hammond, Ind./Morton) rounded out the Peregrines in her first collegiate race, finishing in a time of 35:51.

Purdue Calumet placed 16th in the team standings. Indiana Tech captured the team trophy with 43 points.

The Peregrines returns to action Oct. 25 when both teams travel to the NAIA Great Lakes Invitational in Grand Rapids, Mich.
