Seniors Jessica Marquez and Kiley Jones attended the Indiana Pacers Sports Media Day at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on March 4. The two were finalists in the Sports Photography Contest sponsored by the Indiana High School Press Association and were able to attend the Media Day as their reward.
While at Bankers Life, Jessica and Kiley attended a sports reporting workshop with Curt Cavin of the Indianapolis Star and listened to a live panel discussion with Indianapolis Start sports columnist Gregg Doyel, Pacers play-by-play announcer Chris Denari, Pacers television analyst Quinn Buckner, and Pacers radio play-by-play broadcaster Mark Boyle. The panelists discussed life as journalists and gave the students tips on how to become successful in a competitive field.
Additionally, Jessica and Kiley toured the Pacers media truck, where directors and producers run the video feeds for Fox Sports for each Pacers game. They finished their day by attending the Pacers vs. Knicks game that evening.
Kiley and Jessica will travel to the Indiana State House in Indianapolis on March 13 to receive certificates and recognition for their accomplishment.
