Tori Bliss and Kristy Evans Named to Indiana Track & Field All Star Team

Tori Bliss and Kristy Evans were recently named to the Indiana Track & Field All Star team. They will compete at the Midwest Meet of Champions this Saturday June 11th at FW Northdrop High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Kristy will be a member of the 4 x 100 meter relay team, while Tori will be throwing the shot put for Team Indiana. They will be competing against other senior athletes from the states of Ohio and Michigan. This is the first time in Portage High School History that 2 members of the girls track team have made the all-star team.

Kristy finished 22nd at last weeks IHSAA state finals. She was the DAC and Chesterton Sectional Champion in the 100 meter dash. Tori won her 4th state championship at the state finals with her 3rd consecutive shot put state title. Her throw of 50 feet 9 inches set a new state record and is the longest throw in the nation by a high school girl. Tori was the DAC, Chesterton Sectional and Chesterton Regional champion in both the discus and shot put this year.
