1. Dr. Bewick is in a New Place in Portage
Here’s a new reason to smile, Dr. Keary Bewick, D.D.S., has a new shingle hanging in Portage. Dr. Bewick, for those who are unaware, is a multi-talented talented dentist who has been practicing for over 30 years. He has been in his new location for about 9 months now, and he and his staff love their new digs.
2. Portage YMCA Celebrates 15th Annual Turkey Trot with Record Turn-Out
They came from all over. They came from Valpo, from Portage, from Hobart. They came from all over the region. Young and young-at-heart, experienced runners and first-timers. The crowd swelled to nearly 400 participants for the event. Some pre-registered online, others simply showed up on a drizzly, but unseasonably warm Thanksgiving morning to take part in the Portage YMCA 15th Annual Turkey Trot.
3. NorthShore Health Centers and the Boys and Girls Club of Porter County Celebrate End of the School Year in a Safe and Fun Way
The Boys and Girls Club of Porter County and NorthShore Health Centers teamed up to celebrate the last day of school for some lucky kids in a safe and fun way.
4. Workplace Bullying: See It Clearly
It’s all over the news, we hear about it from friends and family, and we see it in real life: bullies. Bullying is a real thing and it’s happening every day. Right now the spotlight is on what’s happening to our youth with cyber bullying and incidences in and out of the classroom, but one must remember that bullying doesn’t stop with adolescence. It can follow us into adulthood, and into the workplace.
5. Portage YMCA Celebrates Healthy Kids Day 2015
Children and families poured into the Portage YMCA on Saturday for Healthy Kids Day 2015. Healthy Kids Day is a worldwide initiative by YMCA USA to try and get kids motivated to stay fit and healthy going into the summer months. While most locations, like Portage, were holding their day of celebration today, several other YMCA locations across the world will host Healthy Kids Day throughout the rest of April and May.
6. St. Mary Medical Center Celebrates New Health Care Center Opening with Ribbon Cutting
St Mary Medical Center welcomed a private group of Portage citizens to the ribbon cutting ceremony at their newly remodeled Health Care Center on Arbors St. in Portage.
7. Porter Health Kicks Off National Nurses Week On Florence Nightingale's Birthday
Candles were ablaze on the front lawn of Porter Regional Hospital as nurses of the hospital gathered to celebrate National Nurses Week 2015; a day of celebration centering around the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of nursing as an actual profession.
8. Porter-Starke Services And ‘The Inspiration Project’ Are Strengthening Our Community Through Stories
Porter-Starke Services hosted their monthly Learn@Lunch educational series at their location in Portage on Tuesday. This month's informative educational lecture was “The Inspiration Project,” which was presented to those attending from around the region by Porter-Starke’s own Sandy Carlson, Vice President of Clinical Services at Porter-Starke.
