Oh, How I Love The Portage Parade - written by Chris Mahlmann

Today was the Pride in Portage Independence Day Parade, and honestly, it was one of the nicest parades I have ever been to, anywhere. Not just this summer, but any I have ever gone to ever. Not because of the size of the groups that were participating, or how elaborate the entries were in the parade, or whether they had a 50 foot tall Mickey Mouse that was floating down the street. It was just a cool parade, with tons of nice people in it, and loads of fun people watching it, and everybody there looked to me like they were having a great time.

2010 Portage Summer Music in the Park Program - written by Portage Township Live Entertainment Association

Through collaboration between Portage Park Dept., Portage Chamber of Commerce and Portage Live Entertainment, an eleven-concert series of Summer Music in the Park will be presented each Tuesday night from 6:30 pm to 8 pm from June 15 through August 24, 2010, at Woodland Park, just south of US 20 in Portage at 2100 Willowcreek Road. The concerts will generally be outdoors at the Gazebo, with some large shows indoors. In case of rain or high temperatures, the concerts will be held indoors. All concerts are free and open to the public.

Countryside Historical Festival Was Held June 19 and 20 - written by Brandon Vickrey

Residents from Portage and the surrounding areas gathered to enjoy a weekend of fun at the Countryside Historical Festival on Saturday June 19 and Sunday June 20. The 23rd annual festival featured just about everything you could think of. There were various tents with handmade items for sale, historical reenactments took place, bingo was played, contests were held, food was for sale, and tours were available. The event was put on by the Countryside Historical Society.
