Portage 16 IMAX turns 10 years old
The Portage 16 IMAX in Portage, IN will celebrate its 10th Anniversary this week with 10 Days of Deals including Gift Card giveaways to select rewards’ members of the Frequent Moviegoer (FMG) Club. The Goodrich Quality Theaters’ 16-screen multiplex opened its doors on January 11th 2007 and since has sold over 6 million movie tickets, served over 2 million sodas and popped over 2 million tubs of popcorn.

Keeping patrons happy and coming back for more is at the forefront of any business, but at the Goodrich Portage 16 IMAX theater, they do everything they can to keep moviegoers excited about what’s available to them. In order to keep up with this tradition, they recently began renovations in the theater meant to entice patrons and keep them enjoying their movie experience as much as possible.
Portage High School Thespians Drama Club Hold Annual Variety Show
On Friday night, the Portage High School Thespians Drama Club held its annual Variety Show in the school’s auditorium. This performance featured over 30 acts of singers, dancers, poets, and bands. It certainly lived up to the audience's expectations, but to also its historic reputation.
Portage Township YMCA, Greater Portage Chamber of Commerce Bring Fun and Community Support Together at Annual Portage Brewfest
Saturday afternoon, over 400 people were welcomed to Portage’s Founders Square for Portage Brewfest, which saw 34 individual breweries represented. The event, which was held for the first time in its four-year history this year at Founders Square, is the largest annual fundraiser for the Portage Township YMCA. This also marks the first time that the YMCA has partnered with the Portage Chamber of Commerce to put on the event.

Portage High School Hosts Rockin’ Holiday Concert
The Portage High School music department celebrated the holiday spirit as the orchestra performed difficult and joyful pieces for all to enjoy. The orchestra presented the annual holiday program on Tuesday evening at PHS’s auditorium. The beginning, intermediate, and advanced orchestras each performed a great number of holiday spirit-filled tunes to a full crowd. The concert was under the direction of Carrie-Ann Carlson, PHS’s head orchestra director, as she challenged her students with well-known holiday classics and very difficult arrangements.
Portage Township YMCA Trick or Treat Trail Walk Provides Fun for the Whole Family
Halloween is here once again, and nowhere is that more evident than at the Portage Township YMCA’s Trick or Treat Trail Walk, and this year it’s even on Friday the 13th! The Portage Township YMCA has had a tradition of celebrating Halloween in the Portage community for over 20 years, and lately has even included a haunted trail in its annual event. There were many local businesses and trick or treaters out to help celebrate this year’s candy feast.

There is no definite way to be a strong woman. A strong woman can be one of any background, creed, and profession; a woman who is unapologetically herself every day. So, Thursday night, women from all over Northwest Indiana came together for Ideas In Motion Media’s “All About The Girls Part 3” to celebrate strength and show support for the women who work hard and help make other’s lives better all around the Region.
