Tom Lounges

Tom LoungesAfter graduating from Highland High School in 1977, Tom Lounges spent a year at Purdue Calumet and then a year at Indiana University Northwest before receiving a job offer for a print and radio gig and never went back to college. Someday he hopes to go back to school, along with write a book about all of his adventures.

For thirty years Tom has been in the entertainment industry in a multitude of facets from print, radio, band manager, booking agent, night club manager, mobile dj – you name it and he’s probably “been there, done that.” He said he liked all of his jobs and would go back to any one of them.

Radio One Communications has been home for him for six years. He said he got into this business so that he never had to grow up. While growing up as a little kid all he wanted to do was play and as a teenager he wanted to be James Dean, a rebel actor, or a rock star. But, he knew media was the route he had to take after a one semester course with teacher Joseph Fetty completely change his life. Tom said Fetty is completely responsible for what he is today and all in one semester.

After reading Larry Lujack’s biography, Superjock, his fate was sealed. Because of his adoration of music, Tom wishes he could have met Elvis Presley so that “The King” could have taught him about the early days of rock. He would love to hang out with his friend Alice Cooper more often so Cooper could teach Tom how to golf. But what this “very driven workaholic” loves most is spending time with his daughter (Sarah, 23) and son (Dylan, 12). He said he’s very proud of both of them. You can catch Tom weekdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on XRock 103.9!
