Thoughts From a Newly Crowned Homecoming Queen

When I first found out that I had been nominated for Homecoming Queen, I felt truly honored and filled with joy to have received the nomination by the 2012 class. It really amazed me being nominated out of so many girls in my class.

On the night of the Homecoming game, it was very nerve-wracking sitting in the golf carts, waiting to walk on the podium and knowing who the Homecoming Queen was going to be. Many people were screaming and chanting our names. Then finally they announced, "And our Homecoming Queen is...Alex Bustos!" Right when I heard my name, my heart just dropped. I had the biggest smile on my face that I could possibly have.

I feel like being crowned Homecoming Queen is a great privilege. This has been an experience that I will never forget and cherish for the rest of my life.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my friends who campaigned on my behalf and especially my mom, who helped me with everything. I would also like to congratulate the girls who were nominated: Nikki Cloyd, Morgan Jackson, Tracey Flores, and Jessica Barrett.
