purdue-research-parkMore than 50 startups and fast-growing companies will present their business ideas in the sectors of life sciences, alternative energy, information technology and medical devices at Tuesday's (July 12) third annual Innovation Showcase in Indianapolis.

The event, presented by the Venture Club of Indiana and Verge, provides a venue for companies to present their business idea to prospective investors. Invitees include a network of more than 300 venture capitalists, angel investors, business executives and other entrepreneurs. The program will be held 4:30-6:30 p.m. at DeveloperTown, 5255 Winthrop Ave. in the Broad Ripple area of Indianapolis.

"Innovation Showcase connects entrepreneurs with fast-growing companies in the Midwest," said Matt Hunckler, founder of Verge, a network for entrepreneurs, software developers and startup investors. "The showcase is a celebration of the growing entrepreneurial community in Indiana. The Indianapolis tech scene is on the verge of some very big things."

Startups participating include AirBuoyant LLC, Bioscience Vaccines Inc., CareerScribe, Cimcor Inc., Dialawg LLC, Energy Management Solutions LLC, Freedom One Mobility, Lavelle Energy LLC, Musical DNA, Slingshot SEO and Tyros LLC.

"Innovation Showcase provides an important forum for entrepreneurs to present their ideas and for investors to hear about the latest technologies and discoveries that are being commercialized," said Joseph B. Hornett, senior vice president, treasurer and COO of the Purdue Research Foundation, which is a sponsor of the program. "This program continues to grow, and the third year promises to have the largest participation yet."

Curt Hidde, president of the Venture Club of Indiana, agreed.

"We are thrilled to be partnering with Verge on the Innovation Showcase and believe that this partnership, together with the new location for the program at DeveloperTown, will expand the attendance and exposure of the event well beyond what we could have accomplished on our own," he said. "Given the combination of companies expected to participate, we think it will attract record attendance from all cross sections of the entrepreneurial community, including VCs, angel investors, companies and service providers."
