The YMCA: Committed to Children

YMCA-Committed-to-ChildrenThe Portage Township YMCA is here to help those parents in need of full time childcare. The Y currently has openings in their 2, 3, & 4/5 year old room. Last year’s statistics showed that 98% of the children that have completed the Y’s childcare program can say their first and last names, know how old they are, can recognize and point to their body parts, can say the alphabet, can print their first name and can recognize colors. The state licensed center enrolls 2-5 year olds that are not in school yet and exists to provide families with access to quality, affordable, curriculum based child care and development.

The center opens at 6 am and runs till 7 pm. Children are actively engaged in age appropriate care that builds developmental assets, increases cognitive skills, provides social stimulation and encourages children to learn grow and thrive.

Caring, responsibility, honesty, faith and respect are the Y’s values and they are taught through age appropriate activities. Stop by the Y for a tour of the center or contact Sarah Senart at the YMCA at 219-762-9622 or at sarah@ymcaofportage.org. Website: www.ymcaofportage.org or like us on facebook.
