In honor of Larry Neff, Goodwill’s former President and CEO, we have renamed our Career Center to: The Larry Neff Center for Career Connections.  Mr. Neff’s diligence and careful management brought growth to Goodwill Industries of Michiana, and provided the foundation to become the thriving organization it is today.  His legacy lives on through countless individuals who are now enjoying successful, productive and abundant lives because Goodwill helped them overcome barriers to employment. We continue on the path Mr. Neff began, as we fulfill our mission to strengthen communities by empowering individuals and families through education, training and job placement.  The Larry Neff Centers for Career Connections… honoring our past as we continue to provide exceptional guidance for those seeking employment and career advancement.

As we warm up to July, we would like to invite you into The Larry Neff Center for Career Connections to learn digital skills, advance your career goals, and brighten your day. Do not waste a day away, when you can always come in and learn something new or further your career search. Our staff will conduct an intake, and assess your strengths and interests, to develop a digital and career training path that is unique to you.  With the Griffith Center for Career Connections’ staff assistance, you are sure to gain competitive digital training and a marketable career pathway. The series of assessments available may be completed in increments and upon training and completion, certificates will be awarded.

We are thrilled to welcome you back to our Goodwill Centers for Career Connections! Please be aware of the following guidelines set in place for your safety:

  • Please follow CDC guidelines and do not enter if you have a fever, cough, shortness of breath, nausea, or a sore throat
  • Masks will be worn by all Goodwill Staff
  • Masks are strongly recommended for guests who are working closer than 6 feet with anyone else
  • Masks are required for those who have not been vaccinated
  • Increased cleaning and sanitation processes are in place

NorthStar Digital Literacy Training

  • Monday through Friday / 9:00 am to 4:00 pm

In this training, you will perform various tasks that will be assessed online through self-guided modules. Included are basic computer digital literacy standards and modules in the areas of Basic Computer Use, Internet Basics, Windows and Mac Operating Systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, along with email, social media, and Information Literacy.

Indeed Assessments

Assessments will be offered in the focus areas of critical thinking, attention to detail, problem solving, data entry, customer focus and bookkeeping. 

Microsoft Wisdom for Word Lessons

  • Tuesday, July 6th / 11:00 am to 12:00 pm - Part 1
  • Tuesday, July 13th / 11:00 am to 12:00 pm - Part 2
  • Tuesday, July 20th / 11:00 am to 12:00 pm - Part 3

Come in and gain some wisdom on Microsoft Word. This class begins with the novice and ends with the expert. Come to one, two, or all three, and strengthen your skills in this important subject area. Each participant will receive a training guide. Registration is required.

First Midwest Bank Spending and Saving Plan

  • Wednesday, July 14th / 11:00 am to 12:00 pm 

First Midwest Bank will join us to give a presentation about budgeting. Come learn about spending and savings plans at this free workshop. Pre-registration is required by: Friday, July 9th for attendance, so don’t delay and miss this great opportunity!
