The Brooks at Vale Park, one of the newest housing developments in Porter County, continues to give community members an excellent opportunity to build the house of their dreams.
Shannon Brumfield and her husband have lived in Valparaiso their entire lives and have raised their kids here as well. The couple has talked about building their own house for a long time, but they wanted to stay in Valpo, and there wasn’t enough vacant land to build.
That was until the Brumfields heard about the Brooks at Vale Park. After learning about all the development’s different amenities including 50 acres of green space, a community pool, a clubhouse, over three miles of walking trails, and plenty of lakes and streams to go fishing in, the couple knew they’d found the perfect place to build their dream house.
“When we heard about everything that the Brooks had to offer, we knew we’d finally found the place to build what we've been talking about for a while,” said Brumfield.
When it came to designing the perfect home, the Brumfields knew they wanted to build a house that they could spread out in with plenty of space to invite people over. They picked Lot 32, a cozy but spacious lot, and started to draw up plans with O’Connor Builders.
It only took working with O’Connor a short while for the Brumfields to realize they’d made an excellent decision.
“They’ve guided us through every part of the process. It’s been very nice not having to feel super overwhelmed with having to build a house from the ground up. They walked us through each step and let us choose every detail about our house. We were able to change anything on the blueprints that we thought would fit us better,” said Brumfield.
In fact, several of the home’s features that the Brumfields are looking forward to the most are things they came up with completely on their own.
“We’re going to have an outdoor fireplace on our back patio, which is something we added to the blueprints. It wasn't going to be there originally – the blueprints had a covered patio, but we thought an outdoor fireplace would just make it so much better. We're also going to build a good-sized deck off the back because we love to have people over and entertain. We’re looking forward to having such a nice backyard,” said Brumfield.
The family broke ground on their new home at the beginning of last December and they should be able to officially move in sometime this October. The Brumfields are so excited and can’t wait to see how the neighborhood continues to grow.
“I’m looking forward to seeing more houses pop up and be completed and have more people move in. I’m excited to meet any new neighbors that we have and get to know everyone,” said Brumfield.
Ultimately, between all the amazing amenities and the enthusiasm of O’Connor Builders, the Brumfields can’t imagine having picked anywhere other than the Brooks at Vale Park to start a new chapter in their lives. They encourage everyone to come out and see the development for themselves--who knows, they may just find the perfect place for their forever home.
“We couldn't have picked a better place,” said Brumfield.
