A wedding is one of the most magical days in a person’s life. Planning a wedding, however, can be a lot less magical. With an endless number of decisions to make, it can be hard to find quality vendors that can make your wedding a day to treasure. Sand Creek County Club is taking the work out of wedding planning and bringing the magic back for brides-to-be. On Sunday, The Bridal Experience at Sand Creek Country Club hosted an intimate, fun day for soon-to-be brides and grooms that left couples excited for their big day.
The event, organized by Angela Wronko, Catering Sales Manager of Sand Creek, Michelle Nikitaras, Owner and Lead Event Coordinator of Unveiled Weddings and Events, and Joe Christian, Owner of Arrested Sounds, limited the number of brides-to-be to 250. This limit allowed vendors and brides to get a chance to speak face-to-face before their big day.
“We wanted to create a nice atmosphere for brides to enjoy themselves,” Nikitaras said. “Getting ready for a wedding can be a stressful time. We want to make it easier for them and to show them how to get treated like kings and queens.”
“With the mass chaos and the number of people that are at some of the other shows, we wanted to provide a more relaxed atmosphere where you can speak with vendors,” Christian said.
Each vendor was hand-selected as a preferred vendor of Sand Creek. Attending brides could stop at any vendor booth and know that the vendor would work hard to make their dream wedding a reality.
“It’s a lot more relaxed than other bridal shows in the area,” said Aubrey Rettig of Here Comes the Dress, a bridal boutique in Chesterton. “The brides get more one-on-one attention, and since the vendors are limited, they get to see the best of the best that’s out there.”
Brides were encouraged to bring a select number of their closest family members or friends. Guests sampled exquisite hors d’oeuvres prepared by Sand Creek’s Executive Chef Nathan and his culinary team. As brides walked around in the elegant and intimate atmosphere, they enjoyed many of the perks at each of the vendors’ stations.
“Last year we had an overwhelming response from both vendors and brides of how they enjoyed the atmosphere and the freebies available at all of the stations,” Christian said.
Rachel Meeks attended the event to plan for her upcoming wedding in November of 2020. Meeks met her fiancé at a restaurant while she was out with friends. After the two exchanged glances all evening, their love story began. Now, Meeks is at the start of her journey to plan the perfect wedding.
“We’ve just started diving into wedding plan now,” Meeks said, who wore a “Bride to Be” sash. “I wanted to get some ideas and see some vendors in the area, to get some tips, and to see what’s available.”
Matt Scott and Jaymi Marling of Matt & Jaymi Photography, a local duo that specializes in fine wedding and engagement photography, attended the event as one of the preferred vendors of Sand Creek for two years in a row. The Bridal Experience at Sand Creek marks the only bridal event that Matt and Jaymi attend, as the intimate atmosphere allows them the opportunity to connect with brides-to-be.
“We love the venue and we love the clientele that comes in,” Scott said. “Many of the brides here are going to have their wedding at Sand Creek, and this is a great venue for us to photograph. It’s just a nice place to be.”
The evening included several raffle prizes, 100 champagne glasses given away to brides, hair and makeup trials for brides-to-be, a grand-prize drawing of a bridal shower at Sand Creek, and a runway fashion show of wedding attire by Here Comes the Dress.
“With the intimate atmosphere, it’s easier for us as vendors to talk to the brides,” Nikitaras said. “It feels a lot like two friends talking about their wedding day and how we can make it the best it can be.”
With dozens of vendors and the dedicated efforts of Sand Creek Country Club, Arrested Sounds, and Unveiled Weddings and Events, the Bridal Experience at Sand Creek helped to bring the magic back to wedding planning for brides from all over the Region.
The Bridal Experience at Sand Creek will return next year on March 1, 2020. For more information about Sand Creek Country Club, please visit their website.
