Energetic and talkative, Merrillville’s Jerral M., a high school senior, said life circumstances caused him to live in different locations before he began attending New Vistas High School, part of the Neighbors’ Educational Opportunities (NEO) family.
“New Vistas gave me a chance when no other school wanted me,” Jerral said. “No matter what’s going on in your life, New Vistas High School has a place for everyone. Here, everyone accepts you for who you are, and we have a good community here.”
Dressed in a Malcolm X tee-shirt, Jerral said he’s graduating early this school year and going to Indiana State University to study political science.
“I think there are some things that need to change, and I think I can be the one to change them,” he said, smiling broadly and confidently.
NEO’s New Vistas High School and Adult Education are holding multiple Open Enrollment sessions, where students can enroll in the unique high school, known for focusing on individual students’ needs, and its popular Adult Education courses. The Adult Ed courses, ranging from High School Equivalency courses to career pathways, are available at six different locations across Northwest Indiana.
Prospective students also will get an up-close look at the Creekside Early Learning Center, where students and the general community can get a high quality, affordable and state accredited education for children, beginning at just six weeks of age. Find more details at NeoAdultEd.org.
