Step Outside into the FUN!!!!

The picture of the children playing outside is part of a new program that the Portage Township YMCA began yesterday. The Fun Zone/Child Watch participants will be able to enjoy the outdoors as well as some exercise. Fun Zone parents are now given the option of having their children taken outside with trained staff, to have fun while practicing the YMCA core values. Children colored with chalk and bubbles and played soccer and tag. The group will be starting a garden and planting fruits and vegetables. This will allow children to learn about the growing process and the importance of healthy foods. The YMCA, where there is fun for the entire family.

The Y has also just opened their Tween Center. This area is available for children ages 8-12. While parents are in the building, their 8-13 year old will be able to make friends in a secure, safe area while playing the Wii, Dance Dance Revolution and age appropriate games as well as complete homework in an area just for them.
