Steel Wheels BMX Provides Portage with Unique Experience

If you’re looking for some fun outdoor action that is perhaps a little more extreme than your average time at a Portage Park, Portage’ Steel Wheels BMX track facility may be just the place for you.

The outdoor track is open for practice and races that are sanctioned by the American Bicycle Association (ABA). The course is also run by the folks at Steel Wheels BMX, who have an indoor track in Hobart as well.

The organization is heavily involved with the fight against Lukemia, raising over $3 million dollars nationally for the Lukemia Society. However, that is not the only fund raising the two tracks do.

On Sunday, August 8, 2010 Steel Wheels will be having a fundraiser to "Overhaul" the things Ken Nork and his family may need. Ken suffered a spinal cord injury in January 2010 and is on the road to recovery. The fundraiser will assist Ken and his family with the mounting financial burden of the hospital bills and the costs of updating all of the things in their lives to fit Ken's needs. Be sure to check out the website for news and information about this special event or visit www.grumpyguy.org or the Facebook page for the event.
