St. Mary’s School Caps Off Year with Field Day

It’s no secret that this school year has brought extra challenges for everyone. The Wildcats at St. Mary Catholic Community School tackled those challenges head on and maintained in-person learning through the entire year.  The school year began on August 13, 2020 and ran until May 28, 2021 without interruption.  After completing such an unprecedented year, a big celebration was just what everyone needed to kick off a great summer!

Field day was a wonderful day outside enjoying the sounds of children playing and birds singing. Covid safe stations were set up around the lovely campus offering fun and silliness to all ages. From hippity hop races to volleyball, there was fun to be had on every inch of the campus.  “Our Covid Advisory Team put together a list of games and activities that we felt comfortable with and our gym teacher, Mrs. Melanie Light, built a schedule and monitored the stations.  This year was less competitive than our normal Field Days, but I think our students and staff enjoyed it very much,” said St. Mary’s principal, Tom Ruiz.
