Lake Area United Way recently congratulated employees of St. Mary Medical Center for their support. Speaking to managers at the hospital, Lisa Daugherty, new President/CEO of Lake Area United Way, said, “St. Mary Medical Center has been a flag-ship supporter of United Way for a very long time. Although you’ve always run a strong campaign, what you did this year was remarkable. There was an 18% increase in the total employee gift amount and the average gift was 25% higher.”
“Like the United Way, St. Mary Medical Center shares a strong commitment to the community,” said Janice Ryba, CEO. “There is a genuine culture of caring that is deeply engrained among the employees, volunteers and medical staff at our hospital. It’s on honor for them to be recognized for their efforts.”
“There is something wonderful about helping people you see, but there is something noble about helping people you may never see. At St. Mary Medical Center, it’s a privilege to serve and help,” added Ali Ghalayini, the hospital’s United Way Campaign Manager.
“It’s not just about the dollar signs,” Daugherty told the hospital managers. “Your support translates directly into significant impact in our communities. Last year, with your help, our United Way partnership delivered much-needed services in the areas of education, financial stability, and health to over 170,000 Lake County residents.”
“What you have to remember about United Way is that everything we do is local,” said Al Spajer, this year’s United Way Campaign Chair and U.S. Steel retiree. “Your donations don’t go somewhere else. You make an enormous difference, right here, right now. For that I thank you from the bottom of my personal and professional heart.”
