Stephanie Samaitis Carnell will give a presentation on printmaking, Sunday, January 22nd at 2:00 at the SSAA Gallery, 724 Franklin Street, Michigan City, IN. Stephanie said she would cover just a bit of history about intaglio printmaking and will explain the difference between relief printing and intaglio printmaking. She will also show the different intaglio methods such as: engraving, drypoint, etching, collagraphy and solar-plate.
There will be some sample plates and their resulting prints. There will also be a demonstra-tion of the inking of a plate and using a small demo press to show how the prints are produced. Available wilI be some copper plates that can be passed around with engraving tools so attendees can give it a try.
