South Shore Orchestra Invites You to Travel to Italy–Through Wine and Food!

SouthShoreOrchestraLogoSpend an afternoon traveling through the many wine regions of Italy by tasting its fine wines and at the same time support your local community orchestra! South Shore Orchestra will host its 7th annual wine tasting on Sunday August 26, 2-5 PM at Venue by Bistro, located in downtown Valparaiso.

Italy is one of the oldest wine making regions of the world. With over 400 grape varieties Italia is the number one producer of wines by quantity of all countries in the world. Six distributors who volunteer their time and product to benefit SSO’s mission--to orchestrate a musical community, ensure that we will taste the best from all regions North to South, and East to West. Thirty to forty different wines will be served. Paired with a substantial hors dourve buffet prepared by Nicole Bissonette of Bistro 157, you will feel like you have traveled abroad and wined and dined with the best. Count on some chamber music to soothe the soul as well!

Also complimenting your Italia travel experience, will be many fine items offered through silent auction. Jewelry, artwork, scarves and linens from China and Italy as well as wine and wine accessories will enhance not only the memorable afternoon shopping but also increase another way to add your generous support to SSO. All proceeds go directly to orchestra programming.

The orchestra is celebrating its 8th year offering fine music to the south shore region. Two major annual fundraisers--the wine tasting and a winter wine dinner--provide necessary funds that help SSO to present three major concerts, several ensemble performances, a youth symphony, and a $2500 youth scholarship.

Tickets are $40 per person or $75 for two but an early ticket purchase will earn you a discount--tickets purchased before July 31 will be only $35. Wines showcased will be for sale through Old World Market in Valpo with orders will be taken by Pete Brannen, President of SSO. Net proceeds will benefit the South Shore Orchestra (501c3 corp) and its programs. For tickets contact Pete Brannen (219-464-7816 or cell:219-916-1013).
