South Shore Line Adds to Train Schedule and Increases Capacity for 2017 Bank of America Chicago Marathon

SouthShoreNICTDFor both runners and observers, the South Shore Line invites you to leave your vehicle at one of our convenient stations in Indiana, and take the South Shore Line to Chicago for all Bank of America Chicago Marathon events for near door-to-door service.

Bank of America Chicago Marathon Health & Fitness Expo and Packet Pick-Up: Oct. 6
For the convenience of Bank of America Chicago Marathon participants, on Friday, October 6, the South Shore Line will stop the following trains at McCormick Place for those attending the Abbott Health & Fitness Expo and Packet Pick-up:

South-Shore-Line-Chicago-Marathon-2017_01NOTE: Eastbound Trains 109, 119, 121 & 123 terminate in Michigan City; Train 209 terminates at Gary Metro Center; Trains 17 & 19 terminate in South Bend.

If you plan to go to the Expo on Saturday, Oct. 7: All weekend trains except Train 601 serve McCormick Place as a flag stop.
If you’d like to exit at a flag stop at McCormick Place, please notify the conductor in advance of your stop. Conversely, when waiting to catch an outbound train at McCormick Place, please stand on the platform in clear view of train engineer.

Extra trains the day of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon: Oct. 8
In addition to our regular weekend service, the South Shore Line will operate an extra early morning train arriving in Chicago at 6:04a CST, allowing marathon runners and spectators to sit back, relax and ride the South Shore Line.

South-Shore-Line-Chicago-Marathon-2017_02aAdditionally, the South Shore Line will operate an extra eastbound train departing Millennium Station at 2:35p; serving Van Buren St. at 2:38p running non-stop to Hegewisch, making all intermediate stops and terminating in Michigan City. This eastbound extra will not serve Hudson Lake or South Bend.

The South Shore Line is a commuter rail line operated by the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD) between Millennium Station in downtown Chicago and the South Bend International Airport in South Bend, Indiana.
