South Shore CVA to Host Holiday for Heroes

The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority (SSCVA) is hosting a special event for all fire, police, military and Hoosier Helpers to say thank you for their service to our community and country.

Holiday for Heroes: A special evening of appreciation for our region's heroes event is open to all of these individuals and their families.

The special holiday event will be held on Thursday, December 1st from 5 to 8pm at the Indiana Welcome Center, in honor of the people in our communities who are keeping us safe. This night of fun activities is open exclusively to police, fire, military forces and Hoosier Helpers and their families.

Light refreshments and cookies will be served, and attendees may take a free photo with Santa. There will be a station available to sit down and write a letter to or color a picture for the military troops overseas. Attendees will also be able to decorate a Leg Lamp cookie for $2.

Since many of our civil service professionals don't get a lot of time around the holidays to spend with their families, especially those who work weekends, we wanted to do something special for the heroes in the area.

All that we ask when you come to this event is to please bring your police, firefighter, military, or Hoosier helper ID.

For more information, please call (219) 554-2720. The Indiana Welcome Center is located at the intersection of I-80/94 and Kennedy Avenue South in Hammond; only 30 minutes from downtown Chicago and 2 hours north of Indianapolis.
