Tourism group partners with Family Express on Grand Prize
The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority officially kicked-off their campaign, 30 Stops in 30 Days, at Lakeshore Public Media on Monday, July 1. During a press conference, Executive Vice President Katie Holderby, as well as representatives from 30 Stops in 30 Days partners, discussed the details of the campaign and multiple opportunities for giveaways and prizes.
"30 Stops in 30 Days is our way of highlighting the attractions, events, businesses, and restaurants that make up the hospitality and tourism industry along the South Shore," said Holderby. The campaign is part of the South Shore CVA's 30th anniversary celebration. In addition to taking the Tour Mobile through five counties, the South Shore CVA will be releasing information on the 30 Faces of Tourism and hosting a grade finale event at the Indiana Welcome Center on Tuesday, July 30.
Through a partnership with Family Express, visitors stopping at the Tour Mobile during the stops will be entered to win a $25 gift card each day from Family Express. Additionally, for each stop a visitor makes, they will be entered to win the grand prize of a $2,000 gift card from Family Express. The winner will be announced during the finale event at the Indiana Welcome Center.
Also during the press conference, Mary Joan Dickson, a committee member with the Cedar Lake Summerfest, and Marc Chase, founder of the Calumet Region Civil War Preservation Project, and a founding partner of the South Shore Civil War Memorial Trail, discusses how partnering with the South Shore CVA on 30 Stops is beneficial to both events as well as the entire South Shore. Cedar Lake Summerfest and an event with the South Shore Civil War Memorial Trial both have stops during the first week of the campaign.
The South Shore Tour Mobile will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Crown Point on Tuesday, July 2 from 10:30am to 12:30pm. During the event, there will be a memorial dedication to Col. John Wheeler.
The event will include an explanation of the importance of the Gettysburg Address by Congressman Pete Visclosky, a reading from letters Col. Wheeler wrote during the Civil War and a reading of the Gettysburg Address. The Tour Mobile will be passing out coupons for the Town of Highland's 4th of July festival.
Cedar Lake Summerfest will feature carnival rides, cupcake contest, teen scavenger hunt, and Echoes of Pompeii, a Pink Floyd Tribute Band, on Friday July 5. Visitors who stop at the Tour Mobile from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. will have the chance to receive a beach ball.
