South Haven Students Welcome Spring

South-Haven-Elementary-logoSouth Haven first and second graders have been writing about Spring. The following are some of their pieces. Enjoy!

April 29, 2011

Dear Mr. Winter,

I am so glad that you are over! I have been waiting for my turn all winter long. I have a lot more things than you that people enjoy. You are the coldest season I have ever met. Three months of winter is way too long. I am 70 degrees and you are 1 degree. I have beautiful flowers and you have cold snow. Bye.

Your Enemy,

Mrs. Spring
a.k.a. Gabi – 2nd grader

Dear Mr. Winter,

Pleeeeaaaasssseee don’t come and cool us down Mr. Winter. Everybody likes being warm. Being cold is everybody’s worst nightmare. You’ll be everybody’s best friend if you don’t come this year. I will be happy and everybody will be happy, also. You deserve to be gone. You give people colds, coughs, sneezes and the flu, but I, Mrs. Spring, give the children fresh air.

Your Enemy,

Mrs. Spring
a.k.a. Sabrina – 2nd grader

Dear Mrs. Winter,

It’s my turn to take over. The people want nice weather, dirt, and sweatshirts. They don’t want heavy coats, snow and cold weather. Mrs. Winter, get up or I will push you down with my warm air. People don’t want to shovel snow and NIPSCO bills are really high. Adults can’t even buy gas for their cars and trucks. Mother Nature, Winter is just too cold.

Your Enemy,

Mr. Spring
a.k.a. Brandyn – 2nd grader

Dear Mr. Winter,

I hope every day Mother Nature rises up and says, “I’ll make it a nice, beautiful, extended day. I can make trees grow. Now my family and I can go a bunch of places. Now we have the warm and hot sun. Winter, you are too cold and freezing. It is warm now. It might be 80, 90, or even 100!

Your Worst Enemy,

Mr. Spring
a.k.a. Billy – 2nd grader

Dear Winter,

I am so warm and you are so cold. That proves I am better than you. If you would just please get going that would be wonderful. People love me and I don’t want to be mean, but they don’t really like you. I am a super hero and you are a villain. When you leave I will rule this town. It will be so “cool” without you.

Love,

Spring
a.k.a. Madison – 2nd grader
