South Haven Fire Fest Fun For All

Kids had their chance to experience a small part of the job of a fire fighter and enjoy other fun activities during the South Haven Volunteer Fire Department’s annual Community Fire Fest. Fire fighters hosted the event Friday through Sunday, June 1-3, 2012 at Haven Hollow Park.

Temperatures were perfect for kids of all ages to cool off with a little water fun as fire fighters showed others how to spray water from the large hoses used when fighting fires. Though there weren’t any ladder to climb or poles to slide down, kids had their chance to climb up and slide down a large inflated slide and play in a bounce house. A tent of games offered loads of fun, as well.

A day of fun is sure to lead to hungry appetites and there was food to satisfy every pallet with carnival favorites to buffalo burgers and Puerto Rican classics. As the evening hours approached, a beer garden offered live entertainment, as well as Black Jack, with a spectacular fireworks show at dusk.

All proceeds from the event help the department purchase equipment and make any needed repairs at the station.
