Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) named Adam Wood the regional winner in its 11th Annual Digital Arts Festivals competition for his entry in the Game Design category. As a winner in the Midwest region, Adam was selected to move on to the national level of competition for the 13-15 year old age group.
The game design category asked Boys & Girls Club members to create their own computer-generated game with a message designed to drive change in their community or world. Adam’s game design showcased his creativity and tech skills learned at Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County’s South Haven Unit.
The Digital Arts Festivals, supported by Comcast, allow BGCA and Comcast to give young people an avenue to get creative and design original pieces of digital artwork – from songs and photography to stop-motion animation and short films. The competition is one component of BGCA’s technology program which teaches critical technology skills to Club members age 6-18.
"Adam is an amazing and very talented young man. It did not surprise me that he was selected as the Midwest DAF Game Tech champion this year,” said South Haven Unit Direct Ron Ranta. “He plans on improving his design for next year's contest, so that he can become the national champion in 2014. I have no doubt that Adam will reach his goal."
